This is how you clean your LP

We are often asked how to clean the LP record again. When it has been on the record player, or has been on temporary duty in your living room in the LP list . There are many ways to make your vinyl record look like new again. We will walk you through the options.

Vinyl brush

With the anti-static vinyl brush you can easily remove dust and other dirt from the LP record. Gently place the brush on the vinyl record and rotate the brush. Make sure you moves with the grooves of the vinyl record to remove all dust from the vinyl record.

Also before you thoroughly clean the vinyl record: first run it over with the vinyl brush. By using the vinyl brush first you prevent the risk that dirt can damage the record when you clean it. Do you suddenly feel like cleaning your LPs? Then click here for a safe brush.

Microfiber cloth

Another simple way is to use a microfiber cloth. These wipes are excellent to use to remove dust from the vinyl record.

Gently rub the cloth over the vinyl record. Move with the grooves of the vinyl record so as not to damage the LP record. Only use the cloth to clean the LP. Use a new microfiber cloth when it no longer feels soft or is old. A microfiber cloth can be purchased everywhere and doesn't cost a fortune.

Deep cleaning

It is also possible to thoroughly clean the vinyl record by slightly dampening the LP with dishwashing liquid. For this you need the following elements:

• A bowl
• Distilled water
• Dishwashing liquid
• Microfiber cloth
• Clean surface

 

Step 1. Make your own cleaning solution by adding the distilled water to the bowl. Add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Stir vigorously.

Step 2. Place the vinyl record on a clean surface and drip the water on the vinyl record. Make sure the moisture is well distributed over the LP record. Then take the microfiber cloth and make circular movements on the vinyl record. Swipe counterclockwise, making sure you move with the grooves.

Step 3. Now your vinyl record is spick and span again! Dry the vinyl record by wiping the remainder of the microfiber cloth from the LP record. Your LP is like new again!
